About Us
Mureille’s Place was started by Barbara Nullet and her husband Matt unofficially in February 2006. Matt was working as an over the road truck driver at the time. He picked up the first stray in North Carolina and brought him home to be patched up after 3 different vet offices in NC didn’t have time to examine the dog. We had no idea at the time that he would be the first of many dogs to come home with Matt and find safety and solace with us.
Mureille’s Place is a non-profit, all-volunteer run animal rescue organization dedicated to rescuing senior dogs. We are located in Wapwallopen, PA. We do have a few younger dogs but we cater mostly to seniors. We are supported completely by donations and do not receive any funding from the state or federal government.
We have rescued dogs from the street, from the pound as well as dogs that have been advertised online in desperate need of a home to escape euthanasia. A few of our residents are owner surrenders.
