Bud
Buddy is a 6-7 year old Shepherd mix. He was running down the Interstate in North Carolina on 3 legs and Matt was afraid he’d end up getting hit by a car so he pulled the truck over and got out. Buddy came over to him and immediately dropped to the ground and rolled onto his back and showed Matt his belly. He was thin and upon further examination it was discovered that he been shot in his front leg and needed medical attention. Matt went to 3 different vet offices but no one could see him so he put Buddy in the truck and took the long ride home to PA to get patched up. His X-rays confirmed there was a small caliber bullet lodged in his front leg but it had cauterized itself on the way in and the specialist decided to leave it in and monitor it. It didn’t take long for his leg to heal and Buddy began to walk normally on the leg.
Buddy was fine behavior wise with Matt but has issues with most men when he first meets them. He barks at them and gets very agitated. He especially dislikes men with gray hair and beards. He had terrible separation anxiety when we first got him but that has all but disappeared. He is still sensitive to the sound of gun shots, fireworks and gets upset when people raise their voices. He has made so much progress since he was first found.
