Shep

Shep is a male German Shepherd / Great Dane mix. He came to Mureille’s Place 4/30/09 at almost 13 yrs old. He was yet another victim of the worsening economy and breed discrimination as well. His owner, Julie, a mother of 2 small children had divorced, lost her home and was on her way to losing her business. She needed to move to an apartment. She finally found a place to go to, but the landlord informed her that the insurance would not allow for a German Shepherd mix to reside there, even one as friendly as Shep. They also had another dog but it was allowed to stay. Unfortunately, Shep had to find a new home which is tough for an old dog and especially hard for one as large as Shep. Julie was heartbroken and grief stricken with the choice of having to bring Shep to a shelter where his chances were slim. She was relieved to have found us only 2 days before having to move.

Shep is a very easy going dog who gets along with most dogs and loves getting petted. He’s 14 now and in pretty good health for an older dog. His hearing had started going awhile back and he has since lost it. It doesn’t slow him down a bit and his nose still works perfectly fine. He loves to go galloping on the trails here and spends most of his time with Waldo, Zou Zou & Chico. He enjoys taking long naps on his couch and getting biscuits. He also loves rawhides.
